Let your child draw without giving directions.
Instead of asking them to write letters or copy shapes, simply provide paper and crayons and let them create whatever they like. Free drawing strengthens hand muscles, develops pencil control, encourages creativity, and helps children become comfortable using writing tools—all without the pressure of “doing it right.”
Sometimes the best handwriting practice doesn’t look like handwriting at all.

Create a Family Drawing Time.
This week, set aside just 10 minutes for everyone in the family to draw together. There are no rules, no tracing, and no “correct” pictures. Draw silly animals, favorite foods, family members, or imaginary creatures.
When children see adults enjoying drawing too, they learn that pencils are tools for creativity—not just schoolwork.
