Kindergarten Quick Tip: Talk About the Story
As you read Christmas books together, pause every once in a while to ask a simple question like, “Who are the characters?” or “What happened at the end?” These quick conversations build comprehension and help your child learn how stories work. Even one or two questions make a big difference.
Activity idea: After reading, ask your child to retell the story using just three parts: beginning, middle, and end.
Try This at Home
Pick one Christmas word from your story—like star, tree, or cookie—and point out the first letter. Say, “Tree starts with T—can you find the T on this page too?” This simple letter hunt builds print awareness without feeling like a lesson.
