Hi there! One of the very first literacy skills your child can learn is recognizing their own name—and it’s such a fun one to practice together!
Kindergarten Quick Tip
Start by helping your child see and hear their name often. Label their artwork, bedroom door, or cubby space. Say the letters aloud as you point to them. Seeing their name in print and connecting it to the letters they hear helps your child understand that letters make up meaningful words—like their name!
Try This at Home
Write your child’s name on a piece of paper in big, clear letters. Then have them decorate it with stickers, dot markers, or pieces of paper. As they work, say each letter aloud together. It’s hands-on, fun, and builds both name recognition and fine motor skills!
Encouraging Reminder
Every time your child recognizes or writes part of their name, they’re building early literacy confidence—celebrate those small steps! 🌟
