Hi there! This week, we’re exploring some of the building blocks of early math—shapes, patterns, and sorting. These simple concepts help your child make sense of the world around them.
Kindergarten Quick Tip
Noticing shapes and patterns strengthens your child’s ability to observe, compare, and organize information—skills that are essential for math and reading later on. Look for opportunities throughout the day to name shapes (“That plate is a circle!”) or spot patterns (“Red, blue, red, blue!”). Sorting helps children see relationships and practice critical thinking in a hands-on way.
Try This at Home
Create a quick “Shape Hunt.” Give your child a shape name (like square or circle) and have them find items around the house or yard with that shape. You can also try sorting toys by color, size, or type—no prep needed, just play!
Encouraging Reminder or Mindset Boost
Learning happens everywhere—every time your child notices a shape, creates a pattern, or sorts their toys, they’re growing those early math muscles! 🌟
