Hello, Friend!
If your child’s first day of kindergarten is just around the corner, you may be feeling a mix of excitement and emotion. The good news is that these last few days don’t have to be about cramming in more learning—they can be about helping your child feel calm, capable, and confident.

🌟 Kindergarten Quick Tip
Give Your Child One “Helper Job” Each Day
Children build confidence when they know they’re capable of helping.
This week, choose one small responsibility for your child each day and let them complete it from start to finish—even if it isn’t perfect.
Some easy ideas include:
- Feeding a pet
- Setting napkins on the table
- Matching socks from the laundry
- Watering a plant
- Putting away toys
- Carrying groceries from the car (something light!)
- Throwing away trash after a snack
When they’re finished, skip the big praise and simply notice what they accomplished:
“You remembered to do that all by yourself.”
“You kept trying until you finished.”
Those kinds of comments help children develop confidence that comes from their own success instead of relying on constant approval.
🏡 Try This at Home
The “I Can” Celebration
Grab a sheet of paper and write the words:
I Can…
Now spend five minutes asking your child to finish the sentence as many times as they can.
Examples might include:
- I can zip my jacket.
- I can wash my hands.
- I can put away my toys.
- I can be kind.
- I can share.
- I can count to ten.
- I can help my family.
Read the list together before bedtime. It’s a simple way to help your child focus on what they already know instead of worrying about what they haven’t learned yet.
❤️ Encouraging Reminder
Your child doesn’t have to feel fearless to be ready for kindergarten—they simply need to know they can take one brave step at a time.
