Happy week of Fourth of July!
I hope your family has a wonderful week filled with laughter, good food, and time together. As you celebrate, remember that some of the best kindergarten learning happens during everyday family moments.
🌟 Kindergarten Quick Tip
Invite your child to help with holiday preparations.
Children love feeling like an important part of the family, and helping with simple jobs builds confidence and independence—two of the biggest kindergarten readiness skills.
This week, let your child help set the table, pack a picnic, carry lightweight items, or prepare a simple snack. They may not do it perfectly, but every opportunity to practice helps them grow.
When children hear, “You can help!” they begin to believe, “I can do hard things.”
🍓 Try This at Home
Red, White & Blue Fruit Cups
Here’s a simple holiday snack that little helpers can make with you!
You’ll need:
- Strawberries (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- Blueberries
- Banana slices (or mini marshmallows if you prefer)
Let your child:
- Wash the fruit.
- Count the berries as they add them to each cup.
- Place the fruit in red, white, blue layers.
- Help stir if you’d rather make it into a fruit salad.
As you work together, practice counting, naming colors, and talking about which fruit is your favorite. Following the recipe also helps children practice listening and following directions—important kindergarten skills!
💛 A Little Encouragement
You don’t need fancy activities to prepare your child for kindergarten. Helping, talking, playing, and making memories together are some of the very best ways to learn.
