If you’re preparing your child for kindergarten at home (without preschool), you might be wondering if you’re doing enough. Let’s keep it simple this week.

Kindergarten Quick Tip
Instead of trying to “do school” at home, focus on creating a simple daily rhythm with just one short learning moment each day. That’s it. Choose one small skill—like recognizing a few letters, counting objects, or practicing how to hold scissors—and spend just 5–10 minutes on it. The rest of the day? Let your child play, explore, and help with everyday tasks.
This approach builds real readiness without overwhelm—for both of you.
Try This at Home
Pick one skill for the week—let’s say counting. At snack time, ask your child to:
- Count out crackers or grapes
- Hand you “3 more”
- Or count how many are left
No prep. No materials. Just a simple moment that adds up over time.
Encouraging Reminder
You don’t need a full preschool plan—what you’re already doing at home matters more than you think.
Resource of the Week
If you’d like a simple plan to follow, I just shared a new post: Kindergarten Readiness at Home: A Simple Plan for Families Skipping Preschool. It walks you through exactly how to build a gentle, effective routine using everyday moments—no curriculum required.
